How often do you sit back and take inventory of your life? The things you've accomplished, the places you have gone, and even the people you have met along the way. As I have experienced what could be considered the roughest moment in my life, I have come to the realization that it is up to me to pray that God helps me to number my days. So what's in the numbering of your days? Mainly, just taking into consideration that your earthly VISIT is just that a VISIT, and that we are not privileged to remain a visitor forever.
Think about when you go to someone's house for your summer vacation. As a visitor, you always want to be on your best behavior; you know you will only be there a short time so you strive to make the best out of it. You make sure you're surroundings stay clean, you lend a helping hand in the kitchen when you see the need, you make sure you contribute financial gifts to the one who welcomed you into their home, and you always make sure you pick up behind yourself. You do all of this with the thought in the back of your mind, 'I must do my best so that I will be considered a good house guest, and that maybe I'll be invited back again'. With all of that said, if you understand you are a visitor on the earth, you would do the same things! You will take into consideration God has allowed you to be a house guest on earth. He's placed you in a temporary house called a body, but desires that you keep it clean by doing what is right to do. Now, hey you may be thinking, I'm doing right because God did give me governing power over this earthly house. Nonetheless, it is my desire to help you to understand that there is a way which seems right to man (your way) that ends in destruction. If you want to really check and balance your life, use the Word of God as the guideline. As for me, I'm asking God to help me to make sure I'm doing the best that I can as a visitor to show Him I appreciate my stay. I don't want to be just another bump on the log while I'm here. I truly want to accomplish whatever it was He had on His mind when He decided I was worth being created. At the end of my visit, I certainly want Him to say, "Danyelle, you were a good house guest so I've prepared a mansion just for you." In all reality, I want to make my visit count for something, and my prayer for you is that you make your visit count! Be Blessed! Rest in Peace Uncle Jerome Ford....the house guest who walked to his own beat. Comments are closed.
